There's no pumpkin in your Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Let's let that sink in.)
That's right, the drink arguably at the forefront of the frenzy of pumpkin products available this time of year captures that fall feeling with a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and pumpkin pie spice instead of incorporating any of fall's signature gourd.
But there are lots of reasons to love pumpkin. It may boost your immune system, aid weight loss, protect against cancer -- not to mention it's almost scarily scrumptious. But if autumn's most hyped cuppa doesn't deliver, where do other pumpkin-flavored products fall on the pumpkin percentage spectrum? Those Frosted Pumpkin Pie PopTarts? Two percent or less pumpkin. Those Pumpkin Spice M&Ms? No pumpkin.
